Design and Technology at A-Level is a serious step up from GCSE, demanding a professional standard of work that many students find shocking. It is no longer about just "making something cool"; students must function as commercial designers, balancing complex iterative design processes with a deep understanding of materials, mechanics, and manufacturing systems.
The biggest challenge is often time management: the Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) is a massive project that can easily swallow up revision time for the theory papers if not managed with strict discipline.
Our tuition focuses on commercial viability. We teach students to approach their project like a real-world product manager, ensuring that their design decisions are justified by user research and material science, while keeping the theory revision on track to handle the technical exam questions.

The core principles of design are universal, but the specific deliverables for the coursework and the focus of the written exams vary. We match students with tutors who are experts in the specific requirements of their specification.
AQA: We focus on the specific structure of the "Technical Principles" paper, ensuring that students are prepared for the heavy maths content and the detailed questions on industrial manufacturing processes.
Edexcel: We guide students through the "Independent Design and Make Project," specifically targeting the rigorous "investigation and analysis" marks to ensure the portfolio meets the commercial standards required.
OCR: We target the "Principles of Product Design" paper, helping students to navigate the broad range of topics from sustainability to digital technologies so that they can answer the long-form questions with depth.
WJEC/Eduqas: We specialise in the "Design and Technology in the 21st Century" component, ensuring that students can link their practical work to broader historical and contemporary design movements effectively.

"The independent school fee increases due to the new VAT rules meant that had to change our daughter's school for her final year. We put some of the savings towards A-Level tuition for her to ensure she gets the attention she needs, and now she's scoring even better than she was at her old school!"
