Information Technology in a Global Society (ITGS) IB

Asset 101_3x.png

Evaluate the social and ethical impacts of information technology on individuals and society.

£105/hour

The IB ITGS course is the study of how people use technology to solve problems and the consequences of those decisions. You will explore how digital systems affect our privacy, security, and equality while learning the technical vocabulary needed to explain how these systems function.

At Avalon Education, our tutors help you move beyond general discussions about the internet. Our support focuses on the technical depth and ethical evaluation required to achieve a Grade 7.

Our approach centres on teaching you how to apply the ITGS framework to real world scenarios. Tutors guide you through the relationship between hardware, software, and the social contexts they inhabit, ensuring your arguments are both technically accurate and socially aware.

Since the course relies on current events, our sessions are tailored to help you build a bank of contemporary case studies. We provide the structural guidance needed for stimulus based questions and long essays, ensuring you are fully prepared for each component of the IB assessment.

Paper 1: This exam tests your knowledge of the core syllabus across all social and ethical themes. We help you master the structured response questions that require a blend of technical knowledge and social evaluation.

Paper 2: This paper is based on an unseen article about a specific technological development. We teach you how to identify the stakeholders and evaluate the social impacts described in the text.

Paper 3 (HL only): This exam focuses on a pre-released case study regarding a specific IT system. We help you analyse the technical challenges and social issues within the case study to prepare for high level strategic questions.

Internal Assessment (IA): Both SL and HL students complete an IT solution for a specific client. Our tutors act as mentors to help you manage the project lifecycle, from initial research to final product and documentation.
