These essays are a highly important aspect of your application. As US colleges care much more about character than the top-tier UK universities, which are almost entirely focused on academic ability, your essays can be the deciding factor of your application.

As part of your college application, you will be required to submit your Common App essay, a 650-word response to one of seven prompts, aiming to give greater insight into your character.

You may also be required to submit supplemental essays, which are shorter responses to prompts set by the college itself.
