IB Mathematics AI is designed for students who are interested in how mathematics can be used to describe and analyse our world. There is a strong emphasis on statistics, probability, and the use of technology to model complex systems, making it an excellent choice for students of social sciences, business, or medicine.
At Avalon Education, our tutors help you move beyond basic calculations. Our support focuses on the interpretation of results and the evaluation of models required for a Grade 7.

Paper 1: This exam consists of short answer questions where the use of a graphic display calculator is required. We help you master the specific calculator functions needed for efficiency and accuracy.
Paper 2: This exam consists of long answer questions that require more detailed modelling and interpretation. We teach you how to structure your work and explain your mathematical conclusions in context.
Paper 3 (HL only): This is an investigative paper where you tackle two long, complex problems. We help you develop the skills to analyse new situations and apply your mathematical tools to reach high level solutions.
Internal Assessment (IA): Both SL and HL students complete a mathematical exploration. Our tutors act as mentors to help you design a research project that uses data and modelling to explore an area of personal interest.
Ongoing Tuition
If you are happy, this will then evolve into regular tuition, overseen by our Director who will create the strategy and provide frequent updates.
