English Literature at A-Level requires a fundamental shift in mindset. It is no longer enough to know the plot or identify a metaphor; students must engage in an academic debate, weaving together literary context, critical interpretations, and close analysis into a coherent argument.
Many struggle to move beyond simple explanation to the sophisticated, conceptual evaluation that examiners demand.
Our tuition focuses on the art of the argument.
We teach students how to structure a thesis and integrate critical lenses seamlessly into their writing, ensuring that they can drive a debate rather than just retelling the narrative.

While the texts vary, the assessment objectives differ even more significantly between specifications.
We match students with tutors who are experts in the specific requirements of their exam board.
AQA A: We focus on the "Historicist" approach required for Love Through the Ages or Modern Times, ensuring that students understand how texts reflect and challenge the eras in which they were written.
AQA B: We specialise in the "Genre" study, whether Tragedy or Crime Writing, teaching students to analyse how texts conform to or subvert generic conventions so that they hit the specific assessment criteria.
Edexcel: We guide students through the unique "Poems of the Decade" anthology and the open-book drama paper, ensuring that they know how to use their text effectively without wasting time on description.
OCR: We target the "Comparative and Contextual" study in Component 2, helping students link American Literature, The Gothic, or Dystopian fiction to their historical contexts with precision.
WJEC/Eduqas: We focus on the specific requirements of the "Prose" and "Poetry" open-book examinations, ensuring that students can locate key evidence quickly to support a detailed critical argument.

"The independent school fee increases due to the new VAT rules meant that had to change our daughter's school for her final year. We put some of the savings towards A-Level tuition for her to ensure she gets the attention she needs, and now she's scoring even better than she was at her old school!"
